Retail Therapy

was soooooooooo needed today. I thought, I'd fill in all of the blanks gradually with this blog, but here's the synopsis: I married my college sweetheart, who is the love of my life. We've shared our lives for 16 years and have had some great adventures together. We've enjoyed traveling together and have been blessed to have these experiences. Our biggest adventure now, is growing our family through adoption. We are hoping to adopt a son or a daughter (although, I really think it's going to be a GIRL) from our native Philippines. ICAB (Inter Country Adoption Board) received our completed dozier on January 9, 2009 and approved it on March 4, 2009. It's almost 14 months later and we are STILL waiting. There is definitely some restlessness and frustration. Our local agency here in Los Angeles just informed me a couple of days ago that we can expect to wait at least one more year, if not longer. Suffice to say, I'm a bit disappointed. However, I continue to meditate on this verse:
Yet those who wait for the Lord ... Isaiah 40:31

  1. Hey Agnes,
I can understand your frustration at 14 months, that's when we had the biggest down during our wait, so far. We know of friends who waited around 14 months till they got the call, but that was before the moratorium. But we of course hoped... Eventually, with time, our frustrations calmed down and being summer time, and keeping busy (mainly me with school and photography) it helped that the past months have gone by quite well.
I keep reminding myself, that God is preparing our choosen child, and preparing us for him/her, to be with us when the time is right. Not too early just to satisfy our wishes, but just right according to His plans. After all, a few months more will not matter once s/he arrives, right? A friend of mine sent me once a verse from the old testament, I don't recall where, but the story I do remember: It's one where it promises that God will recover for us 'the years which the locusts have eaten'.
Hang in there, you will be blessed with your chosen one at the right time.
Thanks fo visiting our blog, and great to get to know you.
